I am Doing a New Thing

Camille & Ariella

No matter what we begin new, it can be looked at like a journey. If it is something we begin new in ourselves, the journey can be a change in us. Some things we may ask ourselves before we begin the new journey are: (1) Am I going to let my past failures prevent me from taking this journey? (2) Am I afraid to change, or what are my fears of the future?

These questions are great ones to ask. But, we have to be careful not to allow the enemy to place fear in our lives before we commit to making a change, or begin a new journey. Because, if you haven’t noticed, the enemy is patient. He is waiting by our side contemplating the best time to jump in, and place doubt and fear in our darkest places.

It’s these times we need to make sure we are connected to the right things. We need encouragement and support as we begin these journeys. Our church family is a great part of our encouragement and support system. But, we also need to make sure we are connected deeply to some close friends, like a growth group, or a Bible class. These friends need to be able to help hold us accountable and be there to guide us through the tough journeys, and keep us from allowing the fear to take over and shut down our progress.

Let’s take a look at what God says about doing a new thing in each of us.

In Isaiah 43:19, He says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

If you are ready to begin a new thing in you, and are tired of letting fear get in the way of changing, I encourage you to come check out Celebrate Recovery. We meet every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. When the pain in your life becomes greater than your fear, that is when you start to allow new things to happen. Come begin a new thing!
